They bought Nokia for 7.2 billion dollars and now, Microsoft announced that 1850 employees will lose their jobs. Even though they say they'll keep developing the mobile platform, we don't know if it's the end for the possible new devices.
In Wednesday, Microsoft said that they'll cut their smartphone department and fir 1850 workers, mostly in Finland and write off 950 million dollars from that sector.
They began manufacturing phones in 2014. by buying a fair share of Nokia, afterwards they bought the department for 7.2 billion dollars and now they're cutting that business and they're closing the research and development center in Finland.
They announced that they'll continue to develop Windows 10 mobile platform and secure the support for Lumias, but they didn't say whether or not we should expect new phones. Director of the company Satya Nadella said that they'll continue to work in this sector, and also on the innovations with various devices and cloud services on all mobile platforms.
