Global smartphone market reported an overall growth of 4 percent, and the largest movement were made by the Chinese giants that hold 3 spots in top 5 companies.
Overall smartphone sales in the first three months had increased by 4 percent, but Windows phones didn't take a piece of the cake, their sales continue to drop more and more.
In the same period last year, 2.5 percent of people bought a smartphone with Windows operating system, but in the beginning of this year, only 2.4 million buyers (0.7 percent) bought a smartphone with Windows operating system. The main reason for the sale drop is the lack of new devices, that also resulted in drop of income of 46 percent out of smartphone sales for Microsoft.
Globally, in the first quarter of the year 349 million devices were distributed, and the leading company with 23.2 percent is Samsung, Apple is in the second place with 14.8 percent. Garter says that the reason for increased sales is the development of cheaper smartphones, and affordable 4G phones on numerous markets.
With the change in market dynamics, Chinese companies show up as the leading top brands. Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi together hold 17 percent of the market.
