You're in danger of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases!
Is lack of sleep dangerous?
People that tend to sleep longer are eating less during the day, according to a small american research.
The problem with eating and keeping hydrated with people that are not sleeping as long as it is required for the human body is that they are adding more calories during the night and that confuses their biological clock and creates a solid foundation for diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases and liver problems.
As the absence of sleep favors the excretion of cortisol, the stress hormone, it's not surprising that it will affect the life of anyone that sleeps less than 5h/day (especially affecting the drivers).
A test was conducted in which the scientists did research on 2000 people who make a living with driving and operating heavy machinery (couriers, taxi, construction etc...) and the results have proven that 5.6% are doing their jobs while suffering from the serious lack of sleep, which significantly lowers the persons reflexes and in extreme measures causes hallucinations, not to mention the possibility on falling asleep behind the wheel.
Why do we even sleep? After all the years of the research, the scientists were able to give us only one answer: "Because we get sleepy". It's a secret that's not yet discovered.
Even so, a couple of things are certain. We are growing while sleeping and our immune system is being regenerated and strengthened, which enables our organism to function properly.
